Hey,
im new to this network so forgive my possible ignorance! I put down a deposit on a 99 caldina today, gtt tiptronic (couldnt afford a manual :( ) and clearly i should have posted this first, and was wondering are there any major problems or common faults with the caldina? Ive done days of research and cant find anything horrible, but from any owners or mechanics, is there anything that the cadinas are renowned for?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

nothing wrong with tiptronic :P
these cars seem to poping up everywhere now..... i think its time for the pimp van (Alphard)

hahaha... that van is very funny !!!

well, not many Caldinas in Melbourne... so can't say that they're popping up everywhere !

I've had the car for a year and it's also a GTT tiptronic. Haven't had any problems with it so far.

How are you finding the car ?

Yeah that Van is pimp as, i want one!

I picked my gtt up from T.G.S performance in Cheltman (Vic), and so far I couldnt be happier! I have sen maybe 4 others in Melbourne so far, so it gets a few looks (mainly from primative falcon and commodore drivers)
May I ask what mods you guys have done to yours so far and or pictures? That would be great!

Can I ask how much you paid for yours and what mods you have ?

I've got:
- Active Sport kit
- Apexi exhaust
- JIC FLT coilovers
- Sard pod filter
- Cusco front strut brace
- pair of Bride seats
- TE37 rims
- LPG conversion

Going to install a Blitz boost guage in a GReddy a pillar guage holder some time soon...

I paid $12500 for it on the road,
No mods as of yet, planning for some Tein Coilovers and a nice set of matt black rims (for now)
How do the JIC FLT coilovers run? Do they lower the car much? and the other mods?
Ill post up some pics soon mate, gotta take them first!
Thanks for all the help guys :)

Sorry can't help with problems/faults, but I have recently been given a ride in one of these cars in stock form - was even more comfortable than I expected :D

hey mate just wondering how your caldinas going a little while down the track...ive had mine for nearly 2 years now...and so far its been pretty good but have had a few issues....so far in the 2 years ive had:
-the rear brake calipers have been seizing up a little causing them to stay partially on and ive had to have them cleaned and lubed and they seem to be doing it again a year down the track?! but not sure yet only noticed excessive brake dust today :/
-recently the water pump gave out (at 120000kms) ...turned out to be the bearing was shot and let go...was lucky not to lose timing on the engine as the water pump runs off the timing belt so yeah was a close call...
-exhaust manifold stud snapped and took a bit of replacing but got there eventually then had to replace the gasket as that was stuffed due to snapped stud allowing pressure out past gasket wearing it out...
-oil dipstick shaft came out of engine block causing oil to spill straight onto exhaust with lots of smoke but easy fix...(scared me thought i'd bought a lemon as i'd only just picked up the car from the docks!)

thats about it for mine i think so not too bad really...the main pain is when you work on these engine bays you pretty much have to dismantle the whole damn thing to get to what you want but what can you do haha! anyway hope yours is going well...
