just wondering what everyones thoughts are on these turbos,at the moment on my s15 ive got a gt2876 top mount,external gate..Im looking at going with one of these turbos ive got the td06 on my s14 drift car and im pretty happy with the set up for drift...i wana stick with the t2 flange ive got but i wouldnt want any more lag then a td06...i need it to suit street,drift any help would be good....thanks

ok ive got a series 1 s14 with a series 2 front end on it, im looking at buying some work cr kais for it, running standard shockers and brakes, the specs of the wheels are 17x9 with +28 offset, my question is will i have any problems with them rubbing and will they fill the guards alright?

Hey guys, took my car to get a 110 000km service. pretty much just to get them to look at it in general to see what they think. they found some slowly leaking oil/fluid coming out from near the bushes. and also that my bushes are cracked in the front. the mechanic was pretty unsure why there was fluid there, he didnt think that i would have anything hydraulic around there. are bushes cheap and is it alright for fluid to be leaking around this area? if not, pointers?

Why is third gear in the SR20 box so weak?

Hey,

Ive stripped third gear in my SR20DET gearbox in the past and I know its a major problem which drifters seem to have. Does anyone know why this is the case, aparently something to do with it being the furthest gear from the main section of the box etc-

Why would this cause it to strip during clutch kicks? Lack of oil? Weak gear teeth? Other inherent design fault?

Im looking at ways to increase the life of an SR box used for drift, extra oil? shockproof oil? Different baffle design?

But firstly I need to know why this happens, no speculation please, just some facts.

New Holden Spark: Best New small car in the world?

The New Holden Spark.

Holden will soon have a new small-car champion to sell alongside its baby Barina.

Holden dealers have been told that the Chevrolet Spark, will be available in Australia wearing a Holden badge in the first half of 2010.

The Carsales Network understands that the price leader of the Holden range will be available in one model only -- a five-door body powered by a tiny 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a five-speed manual transmission. Although an automatic is available in Korea it won't be available initially at its Australian launch.

Pricing is yet to be confirmed but we're guessing somewhere around $14,990 drive-away, which would put it on par with the starting price of the Indian-made Suzuki Alto.

Despite persisting with a base model Holden Barina that does not even come with anti-lock brakes (you have to pay a premium to get this basic safety feature that's been in common use for 30 years) Holden has apparently changed its tune on the safety front.

Holden told dealers it is waiting for stability control to be developed on the Spark before the model is introduced -- so that the tiny hatch can hopefully attain a five-star ANCAP safety rating. The Australasian independent crash test authority only issues five-star ratings to cars that provide a high level of occupant protection in a crash -- and have an effective stability control system.

So the Spark will come standard with six airbags -- a rarity in the Light Car class, matched so far only by the Suzuki Alto.

However, it is unclear how the Spark will achieve a five-star safety rating if crash tests by the European NCAP division are a guide. Euro NCAP awarded the car a four star rating.

The Euro NCAP report published on December 9 said the passenger compartment "remained stable in the frontal impact" and that dummy readings indicated "good protection of the head and neck".

However, the report said, "deflection of the chest indicated marginal protection for the chest of both driver and passenger". It went on to say: "Structures in the dashboard posed a risk of injury to the knees and femurs of both the driver and the passenger".

The Spark went on to score maximum points in the side barrier impact, and in the more severe side pole test protection of the chest was "adequate" and that of other body regions was "good". However, "marginal" protection was provided against whiplash injuries in the event of rear impact.

Some media have already driven the Spark. British journalist Paul Horrell reported for the US magazine Motor Trend that the 1.2-litre engine in the Spark "revs sweetly" but overall it was "a noisy little car".

"Engine hum and tyre roar battle to upstage each other depending on how coarse the road surface is or how hard you are on the throttle," he wrote for the magazine.

He said the car felt "agile" to drive but the tyres had "comically little grip".

Nevertheless the arrival of the Spark will give Holden a much needed boost in the Light Car class.

The Korean Barina was beginning to show its age not long after Holden swapped the Daewoo badge for a Holden badge in 2005.

Up to that point, the car had been sold as a Daewoo Kalos. The Kalos was introduced in 2003 but it was a new body on old underpinnings that dated back to the forgettable Daewoo Lanos. So the current Barina is effectively at least a decade-old car.

To help keep the Barina fresh and improve its safety, GM gave the Barina a significant overhaul in November 2008.

Front and rear styling changes marked the arrival of some structural changes under the skin and the addition of seat-mounted side airbags (to create a total of four airbags).

This was enough to give the Barina a four star ANCAP safety rating even though the base model does not get anti-lock brakes. The other cars in this class that lack ABS standard are the Hyundai Getz and Kia Rio. As with the Barina, the basic safety feature is an optional extra on these models.

Ok- I dont normally post about shoe box cars on this forum, but after going to the Opening of this and the VE-II commodore (almost 4 years after the first model) I was actually blown away to see this thing in the flesh.

They look sick from both the inside and outside.

And I can tell you that the $14,990d.a price will be smashed out of the water!

So anyone wanting to keep the GF happy, this should do the trick! And would make a killer run about.

Custom Ignition Lead Problems

Hey All,

Ive got my LS1 coilpacks mounted and now trying to sort out some custom ignition leads...its becoming more of a mission than I thought....urghhh

I want to still have stalks running into the head to seal around the rocker cover to stop any shit falling down there.
Found a few companies that make a heap of aftermarket stalks but because the s15 uses COP setup theres not one specific to it. Thought of running stalks to suit s14 but then found out the s14 rocker cover holes are smaller so this isn't going to work.

Is there another model that has the same size rocker cover holes as the s15?

Last resort will just be using a straight stalk and sliding a rubber grommet over it to seal the hole.
Anyone else got ideas?

with my house build now in the works the track car wont be built for a long time so might let it go, we werent expecting to get approval for a while so started the prep then house got approved so wont have the money to build the way i want so im getting a dirt bike instead its a pretty bare 180sx shell, it is rolling, and it is track only, the hard work of sound deadening has been removed and interior and engine bay painted white, has bare dash (couple cracks) all steering bits, no front panels,no diff but has 6 bolts half shafts, rear gaurds slightly rolled and flared has doors with glass(spare complete drivers door) will come with random amount of rubbers some plastics ect will get pics in coming days, more a expression of interest. looking $1400

Adjusting camber on BC coilovers

Hi guys, quick question..

I'm currently adjusting the camber on my front BC's and want it at around -2 or -2.5

Firstly, how many degrees does each line marking on the camber plate equate to?
Secondly, I've already moved the strut as far towards the car as it can go, but the bolts at the top of the camber plate have hit the firewall, there's two extra holes which seem to allow me to move the bolts back and dial in more camber.. Is this correct? I'll take some pics for clarification.

First pic just shows current camber setting..

Second Picture shows the extra hole (one on the other side too) which I gather allows me to add even more camber once the front two camber bolts are moved back?

EDIT: Ok figured out I can use the extra holes for more camber.. Now just need to know, what each line represents in terms of negative camber, sorry for the noob question

ok so I have my car and one of my mates who has a r33 with a kit rims and i pretty sure a engineers is intrested in swaping me his car plus 3k ontop his way ive had my s14 for a year now and its a pretty much 100% deal his happy and is keen on my car....what would you do in this situation? has anyone been in this similar situation i love my car to bits but this skyline is a pretty nice one too....

hi all just puting my complete 91 s13 rolling shell up for sale, the dash reads 50.000 or so ks not sure if thats corect for the chasie tho, evrything is here for it plus i have a blown ca18de+t with auto box but is out of the car. the body is straight as a die except paint chips on the bonnet and a few paint cracks on the front guards. oh and its got a factory sun roof and has no rust, (been cut out and repaired) lots of accesories ect. im looking for about 4g but will concider any offer

i have been pretty keen to try a number of different settings on my car and i would like to see what people are running.

the most common things people mess with (at a begginer/intermediate level) are the following settings

Front toe (total +/-):
Rear toe (total +/-):
Front camber:
Rear Camber:
Castor:

and any other main angles that you mess with feel free to post/explain.

No Spark or Fuel

Im in the process of fixing a 180sx that was involved in a acco. We where trying to start the motor yesterday but the it would only crank. So we started looking for problems with a multimeter. What we came up with was there is no spark present and the fuel pump isn't priming. We checked the fuel pump loom and there is power but still no prime, so we tried another pump but still no change. We have already checked all the fuses in the engine bay as well and everything seems fine. It has a alarm and stuff but it can be disabled with the remote that i have. Any ideas of what to look for next?
